How To Achieve Work-Life Balance As A Working Parent

How BlckBx helps you manage work and family life as a parent

Since the dawn of time, humans have balanced their need to work with their obligations as parents.

The problem is that our lives are now more complex and hectic than ever before. Year after year, surveys show a rising trend in the number of parents who report stress and burnout at work.

In 2025, the Modern Families Index found that 72% of working parents deal with stress every day. Of those, around two-thirds claimed that their stress was impacting their productivity at work.

It should also come as no surprise that mothers still bear the brunt of the mental load, with 53% saying they spend their free time worrying about parenting versus just 26% of men.

Perhaps more worryingly, employees’ confidence in their employers has dropped in recent years, as the post-COVID surge in employee wellbeing seems to have petered out.

The question is the same now as it’s always been: what can we do about this overwhelming threat to our wellbeing?

Everyone’s an expert

I’m a working parent myself and over the years I’ve read countless articles about managing stress.

What I’ve noticed is that, while the stress in our lives has only become more complex – especially since the pandemic – writers and speakers still tend to say the same things:

  • Switch off from work at 5pm every day (not always possible)
  • Embrace flexible working (now there’s no boundary between work and parenting)
  • Plan your weeks in advance (what about when things don’t go according to plan?)

What’s funny is that the more I read about work/life balance, the more I see influencers talking about it on social media, the more I hear podcasters discussing it, and the more I speak to other parents in real life, the more self-conscious I become.

“I start to think: if it’s really that easy to manage work/life balance, what am I doing wrong?”

I know that every person is different. Some of us are highly disciplined and able to easily make sense of the chaos of parenting. But I am not one of those parents. What I needed was not generic advice, but a real solution.

The solution no one seems to talk about

In the past, parenting was simpler. Not because our jobs were easier, but because we had much more help.

Whether because we were closer to our parents, or because we lived in close-knit communities where we could share resources and responsibilities, the key thing was that there was always someone around to support new parents.

Nowadays, we live in a high-speed world where help is harder to come by. Yet at the same time, we are more connected than ever thanks to our phones and devices.

This is what gave me the idea for BlckBx. I asked myself: what if we could use our phones to get the support we need from a real person?

What if we could offload our ever-growing to-do lists and claw back some time for ourselves?

“What if we could just ask for help?”

You don’t need to do it alone

With BlckBx, you can outsource your family tasks to a dedicated, hard-working personal assistant. This is a real person, not an AI chatbot, who is on-hand every day to help you manage your life.

Too busy to think about the week’s meals? Your BlckBx assistant can recommend recipes and order the ingredients to your home.

Got a child’s birthday party coming up? Your BlckBx assistant will order the cake, decorations, and party games. They’ll even help shop for presents.

Need a doctor’s appointment? There’s no need to wait in line – your BlckBx assistant can help you get an appointment at a time that suits you.

I created BlckBx because I’ve experienced all of this stress myself. And now, the more I use my BlckBx, the more I feel that stress lifting off my shoulders.

The radical act of taking time for yourself

Best of all, BlckBx has given me back free time I never knew I had. My evenings are no longer spent rushing around, trying to tick as many items off my to-do list as I can.

I now spend those precious hours doing the things I want to do. Whether that’s spending quality time with my husband and our kids, working on my business, reading, going to the gym, seeing friends, or just unwinding in front of the television.

I’ve even started sleeping better, since my to-do list no longer feels overwhelming.

And the biggest benefit? I no longer turn up to work feeling groggy, tense or distracted. Now, I can dedicate myself to my work and perform at the top of my game. I can be a CEO and a mother, without having to sacrifice my sanity.

BlckBx has helped me finally achieve that elusive thing as a woman: being able to have it all - kids and career - without burning out. That’s why I’m so proud of what we’re building. I believe we can make life easier for working parents everywhere.

I know the idea of asking for help might seem radical to some parents, but trust me – this is the only advice I swear by. Why not give BlckBx a try and see if you could finally achieve the work/life balance you’ve been looking for?
